Ingredients
- 1/2 kg fresh squid
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp. dried oregano
- 1 tsp. paprika
- 1/2 tsp. black pepper
- vegetable oil for frying
- 1 egg (beaten)
- Clean the calamari/squid (cut off heads, slice lengthwise, and remove all the stuff inside. peal off purplish skin, and should be left with off-white, flat pieces. Rinse well)
- Slice calamari pieces into lengthwise strips
- Mix flour, salt, oregano, paprika, pepper in a bowl
- Put all the calamari strips into the egg, then drop into flour mix making sure each piece is well coated with flour
- Drop into hot oil, and let fry until light to golden brown (3 to 4 mins only, dont overcook)
- Let strain, salt to tase, and serve with Chilli or Thai sauce.
- Enjoy! This makes a great starter for a Saturday evening at home (For the sauce, I mixed some chilli sauce and tomato sauce)
